Testimonials

I appreciate this opportunity, on behalf of myself and my sons, to join the many fortunate families in expressing our deep appreciation and gratitude to the Daughters of Israel Spiritual Care Program. And in particular, to Etan Hindin, its’ most caring and able Director.

My dear mother was a resident at Daughters from February 5, 2015, until her passing on May 2, 2022, at 95 years young. She was our North Star. We are very sad, but we are very grateful.

While living there, my mother and her “Daughters Family” came to rely on Etan and the program’s many wonderful services for much care and comfort. My mother found Daughters to become her ‘second home’, and more. Being a 1943 graduate of Weequahic High and a proud ‘Newarker‘ for many years (thanks to this I was “Born at the Beth” in 1952), my mother had long expressed her desire to move to Daughters when the time might come to reside there. We were blessed that this came to be, as it truly meant everything to her, and us.

I would be remiss to not include that the final service the Spiritual Care Program provided to our family was at my mother’s funeral, as we respectfully laid her to her eternal rest beside her beloved husband who predeceased her in 2009. Along with our eulogy, their two lifelong cherished songs and the heartfelt presence of her loving grandsons, Etan beautifully read prayers from the very Bible my parents held together at their marriage ceremony in 1945 in Newark. This was a master stroke. We have no words for this still.

This was the other saddest day of our lives. However, along with the births of their sons, grandsons and great grandsons, and because of Etan Hindin, this day was also our most moving and meaningful. Our gratitude to him, the program and Daughters of Israel is eternal. Thank you. Amen.

Respectfully yours,

-Alan K., Edwardsville, IL

Dear Daughters of Israel,

I'm 42-years-old and experienced a devastating fall that shattered my leg. After excruciating painful surgery, I couldn't get out of bed. I never imagined that less than two weeks later, I’d be able to walk on my own with crutches. The therapists and amazing staff at Daughters of Israel worked miracles for me. I cannot imagine being able to recover without their expert staff, help with pain management, and most of all their warmth and encouragement.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

Thank you, Daughters of Israel. The care that my mother received from every member of her "team" was consistently outstanding. Because of this, I was able to have peace of mind 24/7. As a family member, my presence was always welcomed, and communication with nurses, aides, social workers, and therapists was excellent. Questions were quickly and courtesy answered. At the end, Mom was tended to with the utmost skill, sensitivity, and compassion.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

On my arrival, my social worker greeted me. She and the staff did everything to make me comfortable. They made it so much easier for me to adjust. The nurses and aides were super. All were so kind and gentle and made me feel comfortable throughout my stay. Therapy was top of the line. I credit my quick recovery to the dedicated therapy staff. I thank all of the staff for their wonderful care.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

My mother arrived at Daughters of Israel after a serious illness that required two hospitalizations. Her state of mind was depressed and her body was deteriorated to the point of concern. I was not sure which way her journey would end. Thank you for the incredible medical staff and therapists who helped my mom regain her physical strength. I have to say that the entire staff was instrumental in my mother's remarkable recovery, from Food Services, who cared enough to bring my mother small portions of delicious food so as not to overwhelm her, and Activities, who stopped by to encourage my mother to participate even when there was constant resistance. I have left Daughters with a vibrant and alive mother back in my life. We are forever appreciative.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

Our, as well as my late mother's experience with Daughters of Israel was beyond adequate words. Sometimes a family and resident need that extra special touch that only people who really care can give. We found this in each and every one of the exceptional staff at Daughters of Israel and this helped considerably to lighten our burden during a trying and emotional time. I thank you so very much for all that was done.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

My introduction to Daughters of Israel was Adena Twersky who understanding and compassion came through. My mother is now at Daughters of Israel and I am comforted by the level of care she is getting from a wonderful and professional staff. Additionally, the flow of activities at Daughters of Israel are tailored for the residents-they're not generic. The atmosphere at Daughters of Israel fosters warmth, care and patience. It's an unusual family.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

I stayed at Daughters of Israel about eight weeks following hip surgery. I am grateful to your staff for their combined efforts, which were instrumental in my recovery. The excellent medical care, nutrition and physical therapy all contributed greatly to a pleasant experience and timely recovery.

Dear Daughters of Israel,

This is the second time in three years that my mom has been an inpatient at the short-term rehab facility at Daughters of Israel. Once again, I am so pleased and grateful for the coordinated, compassionate and dignified care all of her healthcare providers gave her. My special thanks to Dr. Josh Schor. His concern, ability to listen, communication skills and warm personality are a professional joy for me to be able to comment on.
